transport. If you visit the Senate Office Buildings
use the Red Line and get off at Union Station.
There are two stops
for the House side. Blue and Orange lines at Capitol
South and Federal Center SW.

The Capitol Hill
Office Staff with whom you will come in contact
are very important. They are the direct line to
your Senator or Representative and are instrumental
in your communication. Most are young and all
are enthusiastic and bright. Their knowledge of
health care and nursing is often limited and they
are anxious to be of assistance. The following
are a list of people you might meet:
CoS.-Adm ~ Chief
of Staff or Administrative Assistant: oversees
the entire office staff and administration.
LD ~ Government Relations
Director: oversees Government Relations staff; keeps the
Member informed on Government Relations matters; meets
with constituents and works to fulfill the Member's
Government Relations goals.
LA ~ Government Relations
Assistant: they focus on specific issues such
as health, transportation, defense, the environment,
etc. Most of your work will be accomplished through
this important staffer.
Scheduler ~ Personal
secretary, scheduler, executive assistant: schedules
Member's activities; makes travel arrangements;
generally assists in overall office operations.
Press ~ Press secretary/communications
director: responsible for communicating Member,s
political agenda and views to the media and their
constituents and makes sure the Member gets complimentary
media exposure.
Caseworkers ~ Staff
members who are assigned to respond to constituents
complaints or questions.
